IDEAL Project at Vista 2019 Conference

Last September, the 9th IPC’s VISTA conference was held at the Amsterdam Institute of Sport Science in the Netherlands.
The overarching theme of the conference was “Healthy and fit for optimal performance”, providing an excellent opportunity for sharing some of the current information we generated through the IDEAL project “Intellectual Disability and Equal opportunities for Active and Long-term participation in sport”.
The poster we presented at VISTA provided information collected in Work Package 2c (macro level – review of sport organisations, programmes, & structures) on how sport for people with intellectual disabilities is organised across 10 European countries.
The poster title is “How are the National Paralympic Committees involved in sport for people with intellectual disabilities (ID-sport) across Europe?” and it is now available on our website, where you can find it in the section “resources”.
Moreover, our project supervisor Prof. Yves Vanlandewijck, from the Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences at the KU Leuven, received the IPC Scientific Award in recognition of his dedicated work and contribution to scientific research in the field of sports for athletes with an impairment.
